A scuba-diving teacher and designer, Nermin Sema Özger uses her immersive experience in diving as an integral part of her artwork. Özger is currently doing her doctorate on art and design at the Yaşar University in Izmir, where she is also a part-time instructor. Özger’s art is focused on sustainability and upcycling, using both photography and video, such as a short film on exploiting coral reefs. Her current project is creating an underwater space through discarded mussel shells.
