Levi Viller

Syria
b. 1995

Born in Aleppo, Levi Viller lives and works in Izmir. The auto-didactic artist left high school when civil war broke out in Syria in 2011. Viller draws, designs, writes and plays the piano as a form of therapy. His inspirations come from artists of the Renaissance and the Baroque, the musicians of the Romantic era, and the Existentialist philosophers. Viller says art should be combined with science to overcome the dogmas of politics and religion and to combat ignorance and arrogance. In the Izmir Mediterranean Biennial, his works will be professionally exhibited for the first time.
